How did you know That I needed to be loved? Why did you care? I was only dreaming But you knew that And i didn’t wanna’ try ‘Cause my life was reelin’ And you felt that But you didn’t wanna lie So you said to me Why don’t you listen to your heart, love? I want you to feel it in your soul And you’ll never have to worry I am by your side Believe in yourself the way I do

Wrapped inside her loneliness The sadness of no one to kiss And as the moments turn to days She calls a name she will always miss Love me right or love me wrong As long as love is never gone The dream is all she's hoping for The day her heart walks through that door Wrapped inside her loneliness The sadness of no one to kiss And as the moments turn to days She calls a name she will always miss Love me right or love me wrong As long as love is never gone A kiss would bring her to her knees She never wanted to be free Woe, oh You remind me of a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? Lookin' like a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? You remind me of a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? Lookin' like a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? Wrapped inside her loneliness Another day in life's abyss The weight of time too much to bear Passing thoughts of love's affair Love me right or love me wrong As long as love is never gone A kiss remains a thousand years The taste of lips within her tears Woe, oh You remind me of a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? Lookin' like a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? You remind me of a love i knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? Lookin' like a love I knew Is there a possibility that I held you? Would you even tell me so? Can I rely upon your sense of love and war? (God bless the day I found you) (God bless the day I found you) Well there's nothing more to say Wouldn't change a thing anyway The deed is done and I'm your slave The very thought of you I crave There's this one thing that I know That I am yours I'm yours Oh, I'm yours For all time

Beautiful 06:02
If all the world could only see All the things you are to me Your heart of gold, it draws me near And I declare you are my dear I I want to be with you, girl Tell me now what I must do I'd Swim the seven seas, yeah Fishin' for the love i need I You are so beautiful I say You are so beautiful And life is beautiful 'Cause when you smile you stop the rain Foolish just enough to try To be that boy to catch your eye The way you smile it draws me near And I declare "you are my dear!' I I want to be with you, girl You're beautiful and lovely too I'm... Fool enough to try, yeah To have that beauty in my life I You are so beautiful, I say You are so beautiful And life is beautiful 'Cause when you smile you stop the rain You are so beautiful I say You are so beautiful And life is beautiful 'Cause when you smile you stop the rain You are so beautiful I say You are so beautiful And life is beautiful 'Cause when you smile you stop the rain You are so beautiful I say You are so beautiful And life is beautiful 'Cause when you smile you stop the rain You are so beautiful And I say Well Won't you stop this rain, little girl? Won't you try, one more day? Heeey, hey, heeey Yeah, yeah, yeah And I, I, I I wanna see the sun Won't you try, one more day? Unhh! (Won't you stop the rain?) (Won't you stop the rain?) Unhh! Won't you stop this rain, lawd? Won't you stop this rain? Won't you stop the rain, lawd? Won't you stop the rain? Well, won't you stop this rain? Oh It's falling down it's, falling all around Falling all around me, yeah Unhh!

Rosilyn 04:10
She’s the kind of girl That you’d dream all about and Oh will you ever try? Surely if you’d apply A little effort She might flash a smile And you’ll feel a little better More than a passing glance Oh won’t you take a chance? You’re valentino But you feel like you’ll never have A girl like her so you never plant the seed So as sure as the falling rain She’ll find another lover and your heart will bleed She’s the kind of girl Makes you leave all the others But oh, baby you won’t mind You’ll only want to spend your time Between her arms And she’s the kind of girl That you take home to mamma Sweeter than apple pie You see your future in her eyes You’re makin’ babies But you feel like you’ll never have A girl like her so you never plant the seed So as sure as the falling rain She’ll find another lover and your heart will bleed Birds may someday want to fly away And love can be gilded cage Rosilyn is free Why don’t you tell the girl You want her to be all your own? Why don’t you tell her that you love her And you think you’ve always known? Why do you sit and stare? Tomorrow is another day How will you ever face the mirror If she gets away? But you feel like you’ll never have A girl like her so you never plant the seed So as sure as the falling rain She’ll find another lover and your heart will bleed Birds may someday want to fly away And love can be gilded cage Rosilyn is free Don't got no money or the time of day All night I'm workin' Well you know that girl is Rosilyn For her love Love in the mornings, love that easy chair Love in the evenings Oh love's always on my mind These days For her love Well you know that girl is Rosss

I see a burnt red moon It’s too dark Too soon With cornfields whizzing by Beneath a blackened sky It’s only half a piece Not a whole Just the least At disconcerting speed Fleeing away from me Hog parks and trailer farms My Oz is just past the next hill Refineries, the smell of the mill Old cars better than factory new I see a burnt red moon Lost the string Bye balloon Losing sight in the sky And now I wish I could fly

Until a better day comes along We’ll all be homeless people Looking for a place In a universe running out of space Applauding as we quickly Fall from grace Until a better day comes along We’ll perpetuate the Long unspoken crimes Whine about what is and isn’t mine Standing on my head To do the time Until a better day comes along We’ll pay with checks from Long depleted funds Shouting to the world “I, I used to be the one” Exposed my eyes directly To the sun Until a better day comes along We’ll all be homeless people Looking for a place In a universe running out of space Applauding as we quickly Fall from grace Until a better day comes along We’ll squeeze the stone And wish to make a pearl Lament my little boy Was not my little girl, oh lawd New York remains The center of the world

This time was different While she was fixin’ up to go He felt the wound that would become His broken heart Was it midnight? Or just a little after nine? With every move she made The clocks fell out of time When did this happen? This beloved apathy This passing kiss This smile from across the room Take off those shoes, he said Let me have your coat and hat Let us talk for a while And try to find the way To a brand new day Why don’t we fall in love again? Why don’t we fall in love? Maybe you could stay home tonight Laying back in my arms, i’ll hold you tight Can't we just make it sweet tonight? Like it was when we first met? Tell me how is your appetite? Let me cook you some dinner, i’ll make it nice Don’t you just wanna’ be with me? Like it was when we first met? She listened to his words Then she smiled, she smiled She smiled Maybe you could stay home tonight Laying back in my arms, i’ll hold you tight Can't we just make it sweet tonight? Like it was when we first met? Tell me how is your appetite? Let me cook you some dinner, i’ll make it nice Don’t you just wanna’ be with me? Like it was when we first met? I, I, I I I fell in love I Oh my baby wait I Stay, won't you stay? Stay around I, I, I, oh yeah Oh my Oh my baby wait

This life’s drivin’ me mad Throwing me changes and wreckin’ my bag This life’s drivin’ me insane Everybody’s cryin’ and callin’ my name Can you Help me out, can you give me a hand Spare a little change while you try to understand Well, uh This time and never again I’m no savior, yeah, yeah I’m flying away I’ve fallen’ from grace Do you know how it feels to be so alive in this world? Have you ever tried to scream silently? I have Strip down and call it a day Peace of mind is a million miles away Strip down and crawl into bed The nightmare is hungry, it wanna’ be fed Well, uh Fallen queens and broken men Fatherless children fillin’ up the pen Well, uh Strip down and wake me not I’m no savior, yeah, yeah I’m flying away I’ve fallen’ from grace

I won’t ride in your car cuz I know you’re no good In your arms is no place for me now I would stare at your lips but I don’t think I should I once died for their taste and your smile I would reach for your fingers but the sting is too great Though their heat is only blood through cold hands Then you whisper my name and your breath Wets my face And my soul belongs to you for one more dance And I tried to run away from you (To run away from you) It was hard to do And romance is but a game for you (I run away from you) And though I’ve played it too I run away from you I run away from you All my life I’ve waited just to find someone Who’d be true and love me 'til my dying days ('Til I go away, you would never stay) Through the years we’ve fallin’ in and out of love In my heart I know that you’re the only one (The moon and the sun) I run away from you I run away from you I won’t ride in your car cuz I know you’re no good In your arms is no place for me now I would stare at your lips but I don’t think I should I once died for their taste and your smile Oh, oh I'd reach for your fingers but the sting is too great Though their heat is only blood through cold hands Then you whisper my name and your breath Wets my face And my soul belongs to you for one more dance And I tried to run away from you (To run away from you) It was hard to do And romance is but a game for you (I run away from you) And though I’ve played it too I run away from you I run away from you Mom and dad said I’m so lucky All my friends say that you’re my type Read the paper, tells a story Boy meets girl and it works out right Yeah, yeah Mom and dad said I’m so lucky All my friends say that you’re my type Read the paper, tells a story Boy meets girl and it works out right Yeah, yeah

These are the days of liars and fools Time marches on and love’s long overdue I’ve spent the hours searching for a sign Of hope for the day, of truth redefined There’s a little girl I see Holding the hands of her mom and dad Now those lives in this world Have been all torn apart Liars and fools often make this so Make this a place for us all Make this a world where it’s ok to fall Open your heart to a child Make this a world where it’s ok to smile Before the end of our time Make these the days of a world so divine My eyes wide open And now I see the whole sky Bluer than blue But here on the ground Night falls My eyes wide open And now I see the whole sky Bluer than blue But here on the ground Night falls Hold me in your arms and here I find You’re so Cold and I know why You think hope has lost But hear me There’s a brighter Day on the way Don’t you worry; I’ll Help you to fly Hold on Make this a place for us all Make this a world where it’s ok to fall Open your heart to a child Make this a world where it’s ok to smile Before the end of our time Make these the days of a world so divine Make this a place for us all Make this a world where it’s ok to fall Open your heart to a child Make this a world where it’s ok to smile Before the end of our time Make these the days of a world so divine

about

This was supposed to happen long ago. I’ve been a musician and composer for the better part of my days on this Earth, but here I am. Decades off schedule.

Nonetheless, in the title of this work I ask forgiveness for time left on the table or found in pockets like so much lint after the wash. Forgiveness for self doubt and second, third or fourth guesses.

No time for that now.

Thank you to my beautiful wife, Karla. Thank you for your patience and your belief in me, and for your angelic voice on “Beautiful” and “A World 4 Us All.”

Thank you to my longtime friend, Robert Brown. Your lyrics for “Burnt Red Moon” and “Grand Central” wrote their own music.

And thank you to Antoine Brumfield. You, a phenomenal guitarist who, like me, put that life on the shelf for family. Your work on “A World 4 Us All” is a gift.
